For groups less than 10 people you are able to cancel up until 48 hours (two days) before your trip day and time, for groups of 10 or more people you are able to cancel up until one week before your trip day and time.

This should give you plenty of time to finalize your trip details and check for good weather. If you cancel within the allowed time you are eligible for a full refund.

Where do we meet for our trip? How do trips normally work?

All trips meet at our office, from that point we shuttle you to and from your trip. At the office, there are bathrooms and changing rooms.  The office address can be found here, on Google or at the bottom of each website page.

  • quick dry shorts (cotton not recommended)

  • water shoes, sport sandals, sneakers that will stay on your feet (no flip flops)
  • hat with brim or visor

What class of rapids are on the Hiwassee River?

The Hiwassee River is classified as a Class I-II river. This is on the international scale. This means our stretch of river is great for all rafters, friends, and family!

Does HIWASSEE ADVENTURES have a weight limit?

Our personal floatation devices are rated up to 265lbs.

Does HIWASSEE ADVENTURES allow pets?

You are able to bring your family friend but we caution you. If your pet is not used to floating down a river then perhaps you might want to keep them at home this time.

How early should I book my trip?

Great question! Nothing is worse than calling days, weeks, or even months before you want to go on a trip and finding out we are all full. We encourage you to make your booking as soon as possible just to make sure you secure your spot!

Group size is probably the most important thing to consider when deciding how early to book your trip, the larger your group or family, the earlier you should book. Rafting is similar to the airline industry in the sense that once all our seats are gone, they are gone.

Lastly, our cancelation policy is such that it makes booking in advance very safe. For groups less than 10 people you can call and cancel and get a full refund as long as you do so at least 48 hours (two days) before your trip. For groups over 10 people the same rule applies except you must call and cancel at least one week before your trip.

Is there an age limit for running the river and how does it work?

Yes, HIWASSEE ADVENTURES has an age limit of 4 years old.

Please email or call with any specific questions or concerns!

Can I get a copy of the Participation Agreement Form to print out for our group to sign before we get there?

Yes, absolutely! Its located right HERE

info@hiwasseeadventures.com Use the email to tell us about yourself (kind of like a cover letter) and then just be sure to attach your resume along with any character references. We start accepting applications in December, then by February or March (at the latest) we usually our positions filled. We do our staff training on site. Good luck!

Is rafting the Hiwassee River dangerous?

This section of the Hiwassee River is considered to be a more scenic float with some mild rapids, which means that it will have sections of calm water, followed by mild rapids, followed by calm water, etc.
